Hello, ppp, I need some advice, my partner started A new job about two months ago so he is still within his 6 months probation period. To cut a long story short, there’s one stall and one shop so need at least one person in each. Within the past month two emplyees have walked out. Leaving my partner and his boss to work. 7 days a week, they’re hiring more ppl. My partner has asked for days off as he has a 1 year old at home and a family to spend time with, they’re saying they can’t because they haven’t got ppl to cover. He can’t even call in sick cause his boss will moan at him and he’s afraid he’ll get the sack. It’s taking a toll on our relationship as we need to spend time as a family. What I’m asking is, can he refuse to work one day? And will they sack him cause he’s in his probation period?
Thank you!

  • Check out the European working time directives – I know in the NHS you are not allowed to work more than 11 days straight without a day off … maybe there is a Law that can support him x
