Hiya can I have a pp please?

I had my little boy on 2nd August, I applied for a child tax credits claim pack and it took 7 weeks to arrive. When it did come I was away visiting family so had a 5day delay filling it out and sending it back. It says 4-5 weeks to process the claim. I’ve never claimed benefits before but understood that I would be entitled from the child’s DOB so when it finally got paid it would be backdated. I’ve had to borrow quite a bit from friends and family to get by and was banking on this to pay it back and get ahead with electric ready for winter. Now a friend is saying it won’t be backdated, is this true? I’m bricking it now
