hiya can I have a PPP – my son who is 6 has my maiden name as a surname, his dad (my ex) never wanted him to have his surname. His dad is on his birth certificate. I got married a few months ago and my son wants to have his surname double barrelled with my married name. How do I do this? Do i need to get my ex’s permission even though our son has my maiden name for a surname?

Yes, no matter the surname, you and that’s dad have parental responsibility so you both need to agree and sign the deedpoll. I’ve recently done it with my 7 year old daughter
if on birth certificate he will stil hav giv consent
