I hope this makes sense to somebody!

I had my baby a week ago, the pregnancy and birth went fine, but afterwards my daughter was quite ill. Apparently our blood groups didn’t mix (AB blood and O blood, I’m the O, the blood groups confuse me) and she needed a blood transfusion because her red bloods cell count was way to much and she had dangerous levels of jaundice. She’s still trying to maintain her levels with help from the lights, she’s in the normal levels but needs to make sure she doesn’t go back up without the lights.

Has anyone gone through this? I would like to hear similar stories as I’ve never heard of this.

We do plan on having a third child in 4 years or so time. Our first child was born with no blood group issues, his jaundice levels were fine. Consultants have said if we do have anymore kids this will most likely happen again as something is in my body now. There’s some sort of combination of bloods between me and my husbands blood that my body doesn’t like. They said I would be very closely monitored in the third pregnancy and the placenta and umbical cord would need special scans, if they see the same thing is happening with the blood they can do a blood transfusion to the baby while I’m pregnant, which does scare me a lot. Has anyone had that?

Some experiences would be welcome! Thanks
