My gender disappointment problem….I’ve posted before, but the problem is still bothering my OCD. It’s not that I have gender disappointment or that I’m ungrateful, it’s more than that. It doesn’t have to do with who my in laws favor because I really don’t care. My MIL favors her daughters kids anyways and that doesn’t bother me. To be honest it has nothing to do with my daughter period. I wouldn’t change her for the world. I love having a daughter. It all has to do with my mental illness. There’s 9 granddaughters (including one great granddaughter) in my husbands family and only ONE boy! I mean how unusual is this situation? I don’t know anyone that has that many girls and only one boy. I have the 8th granddaughter. My brother in laws ex wife had the first boy and of course he was the last grandchild before father in law passed away from kidney failure. She had him almost exactly 6 weeks before he passed away too. My other two sister in laws were jealous of her as well for having the first and only boy. They would say things like she thought she was special for having the boy and so forth. She has since divorced my brother in law and is now expecting baby #2 (another boy) in February with her new husband. Due to how much we spect financially and spiritually battling infertility, our daughter will be our only one, which I feel blessed to have. It just bothers me because for one I don’t know many situations like this where there’s all those granddaughters and only one little boy. I feel like he’s rare and unusual and was a fluke or something and she should feel very special for having him. She got the first and only of something everyone else wanted very badly and anyone in this situation would have wanted to have the first boy or vice versa. I see posts like this and you ladies will comments how stupid it is and how he won’t be treated any different but then say “wow all those girls” and “he’s sure to be spoiled”. I have severe PPD.
