I had mirena coil fitted just over 3 weeks ago. I finally stopped bleeding so thought I would see if I could have a feel of the strings. Does anyone know exactly how far up I would find them? I’m sure I could feel 1 literally just inside. Surely it shouldn’t be that long or too close to the opening? Could it be falling out or the string just really long?
Wondering if I need to book a nurse appointment as not sure what I’m feeling for

No you should be able to feel the strings but I had a bad experience with the coil where it wasnt in properly and i could feel it as i sat down so would get it checked if you are worried. The can just tuck the strings up for u if all is ok x
They tend to leave the strings long at first so that when they curl up you don’t lose them. You go back after a few weeks for a check, they can cut them if necessary. You normally have to dig around a bit for them 😂
You’re supposed to go for a check up at 3 weeks to see where it’s sitting any way so I would book in.
Mine wasn’t put in properly and fell into cervix. Was bloody painful and the strings were very low x
