Pre eclampsia awareness

I’d like to share my story to hopefully raise awareness.

I’m a mum of three, Jayden born 28.02.10 weighing 6lb 12oz at 38 weeks.

Lexxi born 26.04.12 weighing 3lb 1oz at 33 weeks and Kody born 03.07.16 weighing 1lb 10oz at 27 weeks plus one.

I had a complicated free pregnancy and birth with Jayden, I just suffered with extremely low iron.

Lexxi and Kody were born early due to me suffering with a pregnancy complication preeclampsia. I had never heard of it until I had my daughter Lexxi.

Lexxi needed to be tube fed for about three weeks, she came home before her due date and is now 5 years old and has no complications.

Kody had a little bleed on his brain when he was born but it corrected itself after a few weeks. Kody had extremely severe chronic lung disease and had two doses of steroids to try to help his lungs. Kody had such a rollercoaster nicu journey, in and out of high dependency, to and from cpap and high flow, kody was tube fed as being bottle fed exhausted him, he also had reflux, kody would have a bad turn after having his immunisations, and Kody caught infections easily. Kody went to great ormond street hospital to see if there was an underlying problem, but he didn’t.

Kody also went to a heart and lung specialist hospital, the Royal Brompton. We were told numerous times Kody might not make it and to take it hour by hour.

While in the Royal Brompton hospital Kody started suffering with pulmonary hypertensions due to how bad his lungs were, he had a tracheostomy to try to see if he could eventually come home on a portable ventilator but in February at 7 months old Kody lost his battle and became an angel.

I’m now trying to raise awareness for pre eclampsia and all the complications that Kody suffered with. I’ve shared our story in the Islington and hackney gazzett, I have an Instagram account AwarenessForKody and a Facebook page Facebook/AwarenessForKody.

This is Kody.
