Question for mothers with children who have developmental issues or learning difficulties/ disabilities.
How long after initial assessment did a proper diagnosis with care plan take?

My son is 3 in November.
He was put forward for referrals in feb; hearing test passed, initial paed appointment done, initial speech therapy assessment done, referral for portage done and blood test for genetic tests been ordered.
The interim diagnosis I have been given is severe GDD… he is mentally & developmentally 12months in most areas but in social and communication he is 9months.

Also when does the guilt go away? It feels strange to say I have guilt but he is my last baby and I feel like his development was my job so it’s my fault he isn’t were he should be and although I’m putting my all into getting him a team and support that I’m not doing enough.
I feel guilt because I want to go back to work but he isn’t ready for a mainstream nursery but without an official diagnosis he can’t attend a nursery that caters to his needs!

I am so grateful to the team who he has as they want to give my baby a chance to progress & be fair to him before giving him an official diagnosis.
