Can I have a pp please?
I text my sons dad yesterday reminding him that his child support payment was due (he’s the kind of guy that needs reminding or he won’t send it) and I got a text back last night saying he wants to give up his parental rights to my partner who has been there since my son was born (my sons 4). He’s only seen his son a hand full of times in his life just simply because he can’t be bothered. I’ve always tried to encourage him to see his son but always got ignored so for the last year I’ve not bothered pushing it. He’s only been paying maintenance for the last few months, he’s never contributed in any other way. He wasn’t even bothered when his son was in hospital last year with breathing problems. My partner wants to adopt my son now since his dad wants to give him up (clearly just to get out of paying maintenance) and we were wondering if anyone else has adopted a stepchild and what the process is etc.
