Can I have a private post please, my son’s 11 months old this month, he goes to bed in his cot and then sleeps in my bed after his night feed. I’ve got no problem with this and if it carries on once he’s in his own room then that’ll be fine. The thing is I know I won’t want to have him sleeping in his own room any time soon, at first I always thought I’d be aiming to get him in there after he turned one, but now I don’t want to, but I also don’t want to keep him in my room too long because I don’t want the transition to be too difficult for him when it happens. What’s a good age for a child to start sleeping in their own room? The thing is I don’t want to leave it until he’s old enough to understand and make an issue of it. Hope that makes sense

my son i made the mistake of having him with me for ages and ended up being 4-5 before he fully went completely in his own room, my girls were 6 months, my son eight and will still occasionally come and lay at end of my bed and my 3 yr old will wake every now and again and come in with us but my 5 yr old sleeps straight through and only once last year when she had chicken pox slept in our bed for cutches
Don’t leave it too long, otherwise it will be harder too settle him
