Can I have a private post please?

My little boys daddy has been given the news that he has terminal cancer. We broke up last year after 6 years together but have remained close and the last 6 months have spent a lot of time together so our son has got used to having us all together again.
Our son is 4, and is aware his daddy is poorly (he’s been poorly for a while but he’s only 32) I just don’t know how to prepare him for whenever it happens? I don’t even know how we’ll get through it. Has anyone been through this with such young children? Are there any simple books that can explain things?
I just don’t know what to do, never thought we’d be in this situation so young.
