Can you do me a private post please
No bashing, but I’m currently 22 weeks pregnant and have been drinking lucozade sport not all time but every so often, I brought a bottle today and drank almost all of it as I’m so thirsty too now he told its bad for baby and that I shouldn’t be drinking it. Question is, is it alright too drink?

  • Lucozade is fine as it’s glucose energy rather than caffeine found in other energy drinks such as red bull, I’ve been drinking Lucozade quite frequently through my whole pregnancy, I’m now 23+3 & absolutely fine

  • I drank lucozade when I was being induced and the midwives never said not too. I was told to take drinks like that when I’m labour to keep energy up. So why they would suggest it for then but discourage throughout pregnancy I don’t know? Have you asked midwife/dr? D

  • I wanted red bull but it says on the cab not to have that then that went away and I swear all I could think about most days was Lilt, never heard that lucozade was discouraged, I’m sure a couple now and then went hurt, doesn’t the sport one have electrolytes in too? Keeps you hydrated?

  • I’ve just drank a couple of bottles within the last 24 hours cus I’m getting over a sickness bug aswell and it’s so thirst quenching! I think as long as you don’t go absolutely crazy with them and keep an eye on the caffeine/sugar intake you’ll be fine x

  • Orange Lucozade was my craving throughout the second half of my pregnancy ( I went through ridiculous amounts 🙈), and I had no complications during pregnancy or labour. He’s been a perfectly healthy boy since birth, and is now nearly 1!!! I wouldn’t say it’s harmful to baby, but could possibly cause problems
for you if your are at high risk to diabetes, due to high sugar levels. I would speak to your midwife who knows your health history… although you can get sugar free lucozade now x

  • I remember discussing it with other mum’s and the midwife when I was pregnant with my 2nd as I couldn’t keep anything down the whole way through and the opinions then were that drinking lots of high glucose fizzy drinks made for big babies lol. So I chose not to and had a little tiddler lol

  • Tbh if we listened to everything. We would be starving and dehydrated. Obviously stay away from obvious (full energy drinks) nuts. Liver ect.

  • Its used to be okay to have some lucozade as it’s glucose, but I’m sure I read somewhere recently that they have taken the glucose out and replaced it with aspartame in some lucozade drinks, so you might want to have a check x

  • When my good friend was pregnant with her little girl all she could keep down was lucozade her whole pregnancy. Baby was perfectly fine and healthy 😁

  • I had to drink blue Powerade in my first trimester. It was literally the only thing I could keep down (couldn’t keep water down or anything) due to hyperemesis gravidarum. I drink one fizzy or sweet drink most days. I don’t eat much sweet food and it stops me having too much caffeine. Did the same with my first (1-2 cans of lilt or Coca Cola most days towards the end). I don’t have diabetes and don’t see the harm at all. There is no ban on it just because your pregnant, just be moderate x

  • Personally I wouldn’t. Your baby will have to withdraw from the sugar.

I have them for when I’m in labour.

Haven’t touched a single energy drunk
Or caffeinated product since I got pregnant.

  • Lucozade Sport is designed for adults participating in sport or exercise. It should be consumed as part of a balanced diet. Lucozade Sport is safe to drink during pregnancy, however we suggest that you discuss with a healthcare professional if you have further concerns over diet during pregnancy.

^^ From the website. Lucozade Sport is different to the Lucozade that many here are talking about. It’s an isotonic drink and is designed to replace water and salts lost through sweating and re-hydrate you quickly

  • In moderation it’s fine, but it does count towards caffeine and sugar intake so refer to bottle on how much is in there and book as to how much your allowed 🙂
