Could I have a post please?
I’m just looking for some advice from mums who’ve had this experience please. I claimed child tax credits while I was not working after my mat leave last year. I was out of work for about 2 and 1/2 months and then I went to work 16 hrs a week. All of which was declared etc. Then I was later told I’d had my yearly entitlement so my payments would stop which was fine. Then my hours went up to 20 recently and my partner had his p60 and had earned more than expected this year due to over time pay etc. They have now sent me a letter claiming I may owe them almost £400 (which was all I’ve ever been paid from them anyway) so what will happen if I have to pay this back? I just don’t get the whole system anyways and I’m panicking as I’ve read you have to pay within 30 days of the request and I haven’t got that sort of money “laying around”. 😩
