Hi can I have a ppp😌

I went to the doctor and got a prescription for the contraceptive pill. I’ve been on the pill before so I know how it works but she said something that confused me so I’m sorry if I don’t make sense here. She told me to start the pill on the first day of my period so I’m protected right through. But doesn’t that mean when the packet finishes for my 7 day bleed I won’t be anywhere near my period because I started it on my period? Does this make sense? I can remember starting the pill when my period finished not starting
