Hi can I have a private post on your page please?
Has anyone been sterilised? How long does it take and is it painful? My dr has finally referred me so I’m hoping they agree to do it. I have 4 children, 3 girls 1 boy. I’ve had 5 miscarriages and been on every contraceptive going. I split with my husband 2 months ago, would they use this to refuse to do it? As in their eyes I could meet someone else and what more kids? I definitely don’t but I’m only 26 so I know it’ll be hard to persuade them xx

  • Can you add to my post please…….
Thanks for all replies, there are other reasons behind wanting it done but I ant go into those but due to these I know I def 100% won’t regret it. I’ve also had coil, implant, injection, pill and none agree with me so fingers crossed xx

  • I got mine done at 23 after my fourth baby, three of which were concieved on contraception. I had to really fight but i got my wish. The op itself doesn’t take long and the recovery is a week to 10 days x

  • My doctor wouldn’t refer me. I’m 34 next month i have 2 biological children and 2 stepchildren one of whom has lived with me and her dad for 5 years. My husband is 51 and we don’t want anymore. I was in a really bad place after my last child (3 in couple of weeks) and still suffer a bit mentally now. She said I might still want more.. ..erm no. So looks like it will be hubby getting it done xx

  • I am 29 and I have 3 kids and had to be sterilized during my 3rd pregnancy as 26 then due to high rise and 3rd section! At the time I made the right choice but now I really wanna another child! But know I can’t due to this! I get really bad pains when coming on and when I am on the bleeding is bad! I think u are still young u might want more as you get older.

  • I’m 27 with 4 (3pf my own and a step) and no matter how many times I enquire about it I get told point blank no because I’m too young & might want more etc. Even told dr I didn’t want any kids (wouldn’t change it now though) but it didn’t work. Good luck

  • See, I was told at 19 I could have one more child, has to be by c-section due to a narrow pelvis and I must be sterilised when I have my second due to the fact they do not think my body will cope with more than one more pregnancy – have the Mirena at the moment to prevent an accidental pregnancy the best I can due to it. I’ve previously had a missed miscarriage as well. Honestly, just be honest with the consultant you see. I mean, I was told my options were limited that much at 19 years old… Depending on the issues you have, you don’t have any problem getting one. It is also down to the doctor though and yes, they can cite “you might want more kids with another partner” as a reason against doing it – heard of it happen far too many times. :S x
