Hi can you post please. I’m sure my daughter has scoliosis (curved spine) she’s now 8 and I first noticed it when she was 4. Doctors are saying it’s nothing to worry about even though she has back pain at times. Just wanted to know if any other parents have children with the condition or any advice please TIA

Hi. I would agree with you. It looks very likely. My daughter’s scoliosis looked very similar. We also had a similar reaction from the GP but went back to him a year after raising our concerns. She was then referred to a specialist in London who operated. She had rods inserted into her back and immediately became a couple of inches taller! She now has a neat scar running down the centre of her back and is very straight.
The operation was a fairly long one, about 5 hours, and the immediate post recovery period was quite tough. However the pain relief was excellent and she was up and walking after two days.
She has not looked back. She has just had her second baby!
If you are at all concerned you need to ask for a referral. Our specialist was very good. He didn’t pressurise us into the operation and waited until it was the right time for my daughter.
