Hi could I have a pp please?

If I start the combined pill on the 2nd day of my period am I protected immediately? I started bleeding around 9pm and didn’t take the pill until 8am the next day so does that count as the first day since it was within 24 hours?

I’m so confused and info online is really mixed, some websites say with the combined pill you are still protected immediately even if you take it on the 4th day of your period?!

Any advice appreciated thank you x
