Hi could I have a private post please. I’m posting for a friend.

She’s been in a relationship for 3 years, the relationship has its ups and downs but it’s generally good. Anyway she’s never received a birthday present off him. It’s upset her as he buys his children’s mums birthday, Christmas and Mother’s Day presents.. he has asked her in the past what she’d like for her birthday but she’s not comfortable giving him a list of things as she’s not a materialistic girl. She appreciates little things as it shows the thought is there. He knows this about her though! He took her to get some jewellery for Christmas one year and saw she felt uncomfortable picking and he said liked that she wasn’t happy spending his money and he’d get her surprises in future. That’s never happened though. When he’s asked her what she wants for her birthday her reply has been ‘just a little token present will do’ so he knows she does want a gift. She’s just not expecting anything expensive. He’ll get her a card the night before her birthday and she’s upset that his lack of effort makes her think she’s an after thought. The presents he gets his kids mums (that are off the children but bought by him) are bought at least a week in advance! Is she being unreasonable? I don’t think she is but apparently I’m biased as I’m her friend x
