Hi, please could you post the following question?

I’m due to have a full hysterectomy in the next few months. I’m a single parent to four. I’m not worried about the surgery just the recovery time and how long will I be laid up for? I work too so worried about taking too much time off work. Many thanks 😊

  • My mum had a hysterectomy many years ago but they treat it like u would a csection, so 6 weeks of no exercise no hoovering or lifting a kettle, but my mum needed a month off work, hope that helps and u recover ok xx

  • I was off work 11 weeks couldn’t drive for 6 weeks. I was physically weak for a good few weeks. I was lucky, my husband did the bulk of the housework. It’s not a minor op and tou need to follow instructions. Good luck. Once you’ve healed you’ll find it’s the best thing thats happened to you. True freedom

  • Took my mum roughly a fortnight to heal up fully after her hysterectomy. All depends on how well you heal, it’s just being careful not to pull the scar too much

  • It will depend on how they go in for the hysterectomy – there are so many different ways – I had partial at 29 and they went in midline through my csection scar – so mine took 5 months – best of luck best decision I ever made x
