I need help I don’t know what the next step is…My little girl is 5months old since she was born all she has done is projectile vomit after every feed 🙈 we’ve been in and out of hospital with dehydration. We’ve had ultra sounds to check for pyloric stenosis but was on borderline and the children’s hospital wouldn’t see her.. they’ve put it down to severe reflux 🤔 but the power of her vomit is shocking it’s literally fires across the living room at least 3-5 times 😥.. it’s come to the point now where we can’t take her many places as the vomit just isn’t cleanable with just baby wipes and family/friends are worried to hold her 😥 she’s been on every reflux medicine I know as my little boy had it and nothing is working!! I’m also breastfeeding so as soon as she’s thrown up she’s hungry again 🙈 she’s gaining good weight 🙂… but the sick is so forceful and powerful it floods from her nose and she screams and cries with pain and fear afterwards it’s just not fair 😞 any advice or anything similar please 🙏🙏🙏 xxx

  • Possibly cows milk protein allergy? My youngest did this and we been in Neocate since 16 weeks with no sickness, just read your breastfeeding so it could be the dairy through u? I’m on a group which it is really helpful will put the link on for you xx

  • My son had pyloric stenosis, he was 3 month old when he was diagnosed but it took a while for him to be diagnosed as the doctors and health visitor were telling me it was baby sick, i knew it wasnt as i had been round plenty of babies and also because he was a good weight, they didnt think he had it, it wasnt until he projectile vomited in front of the paediatricion that something waa done about it x

  • My son was like that! He was borderline for PS but they didn’t do surgery. He got weaned early because of it. He isn’t as sick now but it turns out his digestive system isn’t working properly so he’s under the care of medical paediatrics who are running tests to find out the exact cause. He only has really runny or huge boulder poos. He’s 19 months now.

  • My little boy was the same so I started to wean him at about 4 1/2 months he’s hardly sick at all now whereas before he was bringing up practically half the bottle of milk he just had. He still has milk first thing and last thing before bed and sometimes during the night but I find that now he’s on solids it’s so much better. I was the same as you I dreaded leaving the house and having to feed him as I knew he would spew it all back up! Talk to you health visitor or GP about weaning her early. They say to wait until 6 months but I couldn’t bare to wait that long must be awful for babies being sick all the time 😞 message me if you want to talk about it etc xx

  • My friends son is having exactly the same as this, projective vomiting after every bottle she said sometimes its that much it looks like you could fill a bath, in and out of hospital had a scan on stomach few days ago his been referred to a different children’s hospital and is in surgery today as they’ve said tubes in his belly are to narrow and blocked x

  • Sounds like my daughter when she was a baby, she had terrible reflux and we were given powdered gaviscon for babies. You have to add it to the babies milk and it really helped, she rarely projectile vomited after that. She was also on prescription milk for a little while too but only a few weeks and then went on to cow and gate. She stayed on gaviscon for over a year and by then she grew out of the problem. Hope that helps. See if they can give you it if it is reflux as it was a life saver for us

  • My little girl (6 weeks old) was projectile vomiting so the health visitor suggested reflux/dairy allergy. I’m breastfeeding and I’m lactose intolerant so I knew it wasn’t that (I have lactose free food but it still has cows milk in it) so I’ve taken dairy completely out of my diet for the last week and my LG is so much better! Not completely but such a big improvement. Not as sick, not crying or straining as much, not as much wind, not arching her back or crying when lying flat as much. It could be dairy like the others have said. My LG had projectile poo too xxx

  • Could it be a hiatus hernia where where opening to stomach hasn’t formed properly yet? That would cause milk to come straight back up… I think it usually sorts itself out x

  • My son was like that took 9 months for them to eventually say he was lactose intolerant only milk that would not make him do that was neogate

  • Try probiotics. You can get infant sachets online cured my boys severe reflux in a week he has one once a week and no vomiting.
His CMPA lactose and soya intolerances have gone too. I swear that’s what helped them along x

  • Both of my girls done this and found out they had an allergy to dairy. Get prescription milk (nutramigen) they soon grew out of it and can have dairy now x

  • It does sound like cmpa but surely peads have suggested this? As you are bfeeding its a case of an elimination diet, I’d cut out soya too.
If you did want to formula feed then they would probably start on a hydrolyzed milk, then progress onto a amino acid based milk if no improvement.
Cmpa and lactose intolerance are two very different things, LI in infants is very uncommon

  • Thank you very much 🙂 I did go dairy free whilst in hospital as requested by the doctors :(… it literally won’t stop but because she’s gaining weight they won’t do anything xxx

  • Is there a chance she may have a dairy intolerance? That and reflux can go hand in hand..x

  • As your breastfeeding could it be something your eating that’s not agreeing with her? My first child was sick a lot we ended up having a special milk on prescription she was loads better after x

  • My boy had this they tried treating as reflux but ended up being severe pyloric did they re scan? As it keeps thickening which makes vomiting worse x

  • I’d seriously look in to it been a Dairy allergy & also a Soya allergy with the way she is been sick , if your gp is useless and your paediatrician ask to speak with a dietitian or demand a second opinion .
I’ll post a couple of useful links , any questions feel free to ask me x
