Iceland vow to change for the better!

Major supermarket Iceland have promised to go green!

The retailer has publicised plans to replace all of its own products plastic packaging with trays made of paper and pulp in a five-year.

Iceland are the first retailer to make such a claim in hopes to do better for the environment.

After a recently survey carried out by the supermarket it learnt that 80% of 5,000 people polled agreed to endorse the change and would happily go plastic-free.

Iceland managing director, Richard Walker, said:
The world has woken up to the scourge of plastics. A truckload is entering our oceans every minute, causing untold damage to our marine environment and ultimately humanity – since we all depend on the oceans for our survival.

“The onus is on retailers, as leading contributors to plastic packaging pollution and waste, to take a stand and deliver meaningful change.”
