My son is 5years old, since he was 2, we was told by his nursery teacher his speech is not at the level he should be. He was never ready to go to school, he’s still under speech therapy now but hes seen nobody in nearly a year. We had probems with his behaviour last year but died down alot. At the start of year 1 they started to offer more help with learning, he went out of class two afternoons aweek, small group, he loved it. But that stopped about 3months ago. His behaviour over the last couple of months has been really bad. He’s angry!! Has been hitting the teachers, throwing chairs and running out of class. We had a meeting at the school last week as he’s had 3 detentions this term. While in the meeting i was talking about how he’s struggling with learning and understanding. His teacher agreed, and said we can get someone to come in to access his learning. Taken a meeting for them to do this, I’ve been telling them for over a year! Two days before this meeting they exclude him for hitting the teacher and today it’s happened again. His head has told me they will keep excluding him until its permanent, thats it. No help to try sort his behaviour out. They have problems getting him to keep still and sit down and do his work. The two times he’s been excluded he was sitting at the table trying to finish his work and they have told him to leave it and go sit on the carpet. Thats why he’s lashed out. He told me he just wanted to finish his maths. My son lies alot, when I’ve asked about what actually happened i don’t get the complete story, just what they’ve been told. I need some help and i don’t know who to turn to? I’m scared he will be excluded permanently. Also add we do have problems at home, but i don’t think they are as bad as school. After some advice on parents how have been through the same thing
