I haven’t got any court orders or anything at all in place regarding my ex and the kids. He last saw them july last year. I put a stop to him seeing them as even after we had split it seemed to get more volatile between the two of us and he always had to collect from my house or asked to stay there instead of taking them out.
My son (nearly 7) really misses his dad and has issues that are being looked into (ADHD, odd and attachment disorder). He is getting more violent and angry as time goes on. This could be partly down to things he was around/witnessed or heard over the years too.

My brother is now saying that I should get in contact with my ex and give him an ultimatum that he either starts seeing the kids consistently again for my sons sake or he signs over his parental responsibilities entirely to myself.
My worry is if he comes back after a year away, could this make my son worse than he is now and it’s not fair for him to have more heartache if my ex becomes inconsistent or stops seeing them again.
The ex also now lives over 200 miles away.
Anyone else been in similar situation or any advice on what steps to take?
