Ppp. My question is when do you know enough is enough because I’m so drained and did not sign up for having a child for a partner I would rather look after 10 of my two year old sons at the same time then look after my partner any longer.
My partner has extremely bad mental health problems which is probably why I’ve felt guilty and stayed so long, it’s been 5 years, we met when we were 17, he can never hold a job or a tafe course he plays PlayStation 10 hours a day, his sleeping pattern is right out of whack and he is extremely moody (he has bipolar). He does absolutely nothing to help out around the house and the very rare time he does he has to be coached into everything he does. I have tried EVERYTHING I’ve tried ignoring him and letting him work it out for himself, I’ve tried to talk it out, I’ve tried to write lists for him and guide him through everything, I’ve shown I’m upset, disappointed and angry, I’ve even tried being with him whilst he’s not under the same roof to try get him to hold his own. He does not pay a cent towards rent food bills or anything to do with our son and I do everything myself whilst also going to uni and I now have baby number 2 on the way. I am so lost on what to do and feel like I’m wrong to give up on someone that is so mentally sick but feel like all I’m doing is enabling him by putting up with it.

  • If he can’t be bothered to help is SELF then he doesn’t care and won’t change if he doesn’t get the help he needs
