Private post please. I’m a mother of 2 boys aged 6 and 8 who both have special needs and I’ve been in a relationship with a man who isn’t their father for the past 2 years. He also has a daughter from a previous relationship and we all get on well. For the past few months my partner has become increasingly distant and not spending as much time with us as he usually would. We don’t live together however I recently suggested perhaps we could give it a try but he said he’s too scared because his daughters mum left him for another man so is wary about commiting to me. Am I wrong for being upset by this? My children adore him and I wouldn’t walk out on him for someone else. I feel like myself and my children are being strung along and it’s really starting to affect me. If I try to talk to him about it he gets defensive. Any advice? I love him but starting to feel not good enough.
