Hi everyone, i have a one year old that HATES going to sleep, she fights it till the end but once shes sleeping shes sleeps all night. She has the same routine & goes to bed roughly around the same time (depending on naps). Im starting to dread bed time, we put her down and she just screams, weve tried leaving her for 10mins but she gets herself in such a state she will make herself sick – so controlled crying is not an option. If we sit by her cot, hold her hand she will eventually go to sleep – dont get me wrong i dont mind doing that but its not that easy every night when i takes about 2hours to fall to sleep and some nights shes still fighting to get back up. Its the same with nap times, she will get in such a state even though shes knackerd. Has anyone got any tips on how she can self settle and make bedtime easier for the both of us. Thank you x

Have you tried this book.. I used it on my daughter who refused to sleep. Read it through twice one night she was asleep half way through 2nd reading and within a week falling asleep about half way through the 1st reading. It is designed for older kids but it may work. I also used a heat lotion oj her feet that relaxed her as well. We manged to get her to sleep alot easier doing this and maintained it till now ( she is now 4). I hope you find something g that works for you x
My one year old is exactly the same and i tryed everything anyone could possible suggest i done it and nothing worked and god help us if she does wake up in the night witch is rarely but she will scream the house down till shes in bed with us.. most people dont agree with this and i aint going to lie i didnt either i was sooo against it but after having a non sleeper from 4 months old to way over one years old! I gave in and put a tv in her bedroom.. i put her in her cot with a film on with the volume up she screams for 10 to 15 minuites.. i sit outside the door with the remote so when she calms down i slowly turn it down to a reasonable volume and shes asleep within 20 minuites xx
Its a lil pink tv with a dvd player built in from argos or curries and now we enjoy going out shopping and she picks a dvd to have xx
I swear I comment this on most posts, try playing white noise sounds like a Hoover ext on your phone from YouTube as it relaxes babies and young children my little one fall asleep within a few mins x
