I have rules to dealing with family now that I am an adult.
- You will not talk to me any type of way because you’re older than me. I’m still an adult
- Don’t confuse my love for you as a weakness. I will cut you off.
- I don’t owe you anything. Anything I do is out of love. Not obligation.
4.Respect is a mutual thing.
- I am not a bad person for calling out toxic behaviors/people just because they’ve been like that for years.
- I don’t have to tell you my business & if I do it’s not yours to tell.
- I don’t have to consult with you regarding my personal life choices.
- If I want your opinion, I will ask for it. Unsolicited advice from people who project their insecurities is the worst.
- I am not obligated to deal with you because you’re family.
- If family events stress me out, I will not attend.
