Sore Throat Then Ended Up Being Resuscitated

I’m not usually in the habit of posting my private life and I’m one of the silent stalkers of the internet but this is something I feel the need to do. Last November I had a sore throat and felt very tired I was half expecting to come down with a cold. My dad came home and looked at me he didn’t even say anything he just frantically phoned an ambulance

When the paramedics arrived they took me out to the awaiting ambulance, by the time I reached the ambulance which was literally parked outside I had to be resuscitated I don’t remember anything after until months later.

I was informed I had seizures and was on kidney dialysis my lungs collapsed and I was resuscitated 4 more times and was on life support they told my parents there was no hope I would not make it.

When I came around I had a tracheostomy and no voice and I could not move at all. Two months later I am allowed home and have to have physio but may not regain full use of my arms.

The reason this web article is to try to raise awareness of sepsis because there is not enough, I’ve since spoken to other people and I’ve had the same response so many times “what is sepsis” well it’s a killer or people lose their sight or limbs. I’m one of the lucky ones. I don’t know how I got it or how I got through it but I did. I just want people to know how deadly that thing is. If you suspect you or anyone you know may have sepsis seek immediate medical attention, time can be a life saver.
