Washing kids mouth out with soap for swearing??
Needing some parents opinions here. Me and kids dad have been separated for 2.5 Years. He’s now living with a new partner and engaged to her (she has kids of her own at similar ages to mine)
One of my children who is almost 10 sometimes swears. I hate it and I always tell them off. And there’s a real understanding that I find it disrespectful and it hasn’t happened in a while now.
My kids were with their dad last weekend and one came home saying they accidentally swore and he smacked them and said if it happens again he’ll be washing their mouth out with soap. They then all said they’ve seen his partner do it to her own children when they’ve been rude or said a bad word.
I’m livid at the idea this could happen to mine and I just want to know how other mums/dads would feel? I have three kids oldest 12. They all love their father but I just don’t like the idea of this sort of punishment. I agree kids being rude and swearing has to have consequences but surely washing a child mouth with soap is bordering on abuse? Needing lots of opinions!! Thanks xx

  • It doesn’t matter what anybody else thinks, if it’s something you do not agree with then you need to talk to your children’s father and express your concerns
