Can I have an anonymous post please?
My son is 16, lives with me & is in full time education. He’s an absolute delight of a lad, handsome, intelligent, sporty & most of all respectable.
The issue we have lies with his biological father, he lives just a few miles from us but is not interested in having any contact with our boy?! My son had a a fantastic relationship with his paternal grandparents, aunts, uncles, cousins etc. They cannot understand why he chose to take nothing to do with him either!
My ex lives with his partner & her daughter & raised her as his own (we have no issue with this what so ever).
He paid not a penny for our boy until I sought advice from the CSA a few years back & he now has £18 per fortnight taken from his wages. I don’t use this money, I pay it directly to my son’s savings account that he knows nothing of.
I believe child support is calculated on a percentage of the parents earnings. I have been told from a colleague of my ex’s that he brags about his partner working in the wages dept of his employers & that she only puts some of his earning through the books so he doesn’t have to pay any more to our son!
He has not seen or spoke to our boy for 2 years, the last was when we walked past him in a shopping centre.
My son would like to drop his surname & use my surname as he doesn’t wish to be named after him.
So my question is, how can I go about proving his fraudulent working hours / non payment of tax & of my son does change his name will his biological father still be eligible to pay towards his upbringing?
