Ppp what do I do in this circumstance, my son has autism and has been awarded disability living allowance at high rate meaning he will receive around £330 per month and a extra £83 tax credits, im going to apply for carers until he is settled into primary school as it is not clear he will manage in mainstream school and he will most likely find the transition difficult. Anyways my oh doesn’t work he’s on jobseekers, spends all day everyday on his Xbox. Has debts from buying a Xbox selling it because he couldn’t afford to pay other debts and buying another from a relatives catalog. We always took our half of the money from jobseekers to bills and then the left over split between us but I would have child tax and child benefit to buy food and do things with our son, it’s always been a struggle I always have to save money for Christmas and his birthday my oh has never contributed. So now my problem with my sons disability money, my view was that is his money so I would keep the money and spend it on anything my son needs, days out etc it would open up so many doors to us getting further out for days out etc but then I felt a bit guilty having so much extra money and my oh living off £64 a fortnight but then on the otherhand like I said I don’t see my sons disability money and tax credits as something we should spend, I know if we shared the money he would waste it on Xbox games, drink, takeaways. I think it would just open more doors to him getting the opportunity to drink more. I know most people just put all money together and then split what’s left when the bills are paid. Just looking for what people would do.

Just to add my oh is in and out of temp jobs a few times a year he can’t seem to get a permanent job he does try.
