Loving Someone With Depression Isn’t Always Easy

Tyler: “Loving someone with depression isn’t always easy. My beautiful, perfect wife has been through so much in her life.

Between a rough childhood and giving up our daughter for adoption at 16, it isn’t a surprise that she suffers from depression. People always question me, “why are YOU with HER?” Are you kidding? Without her, I am nothing. She is everything to me and more. She is the ying to my yang.

The peanut butter to my jelly. I know it might sound corny, but it’s true. She makes my life better, even if she suffers from depression. I’ve created a safe place for her. A place where she can lay her head on my shoulder and tell me when she’s not okay.

A place where she can tell me exactly how she’s feeling and I listen, every time. She’s not afraid to tell me these things. & because I have created this safe space for her, she was able to tell me when she started having suicidal thoughts.

I might not always understand why, but that’s not important. What’s important is that she was able to come to me for support and we were able to get her the help she needs.

Depression and suicidal thoughts do not make her any less of a beautiful, loving person who deserves nothing but the best. It may be hard at time but I promised to love her through sickness and in health.

Through thick and thin. I pray everyone that suffers from this also has a safe place, a safe person, who they can confide in when they feel like they can’t go on anymore. I love my wife to the moon & back and see her as nothing less than perfect, even with her depression. Forever and always” ❤️
