Hi could I have a private post to mums advice page. Has anyone had payments taken from their child tax credits to cover an overpayment going back a few years. I was told me and my husband were entitlesto £43 a week we have 2 kids (hadn’t had tax credits since 2013 only had them for a year) However I’ve only recieved half of that for the last 3 weeks. When I phoned to check it the girl in the phone said they are taking £80 a month to cover overpayment..is this not a lot? They are taking half of what we are entitled to. I have filled the form in to see if I can get it reduced to £40 a month which I don’t think is much to ask considering some people get £100 a week and we only get £40 has anyone asked them to reduce repayment and been successful? We also don’t get any help with school uniforms dinners or childcare so it’s not like we’re scrounging for everything we can get and we both work. Thanks. Could I have this private please.
