Any chance you could post on my behalf? I have 2 daughters to my ex husband, me and my current partner have been together over 3 years now. He had no children and we have started to talk about having a baby. My only worry is finances. I currently work in a school, so I earn £980 a month. But after 12 weeks on maternity my money would drop to £512. Usually this wouldn’t of been a problem as tax credits would have topped it up while I was off. But now a 3rd child doesn’t count I’m guessing they won’t top me up meaning I can’t afford my bills, wondering if anyone had any experience with this or knows whether any help is given during maternity leave. I wouldn’t need help after I went back to work but I breastfeed and would like to feed to 6 months at least. I don’t want to be going back to work after 12 weeks! I desperately want to give my partner a child of his own. He’s fantastic with my 2.

  • Only thing I could suggest is maybe wait a year and save up as best you can so that when the time comes you have enough put by to top your wage up while your off x
