Can i have a post please. I need some advice on how to get my 2 year old to sleep in her bed, shes been a great sleeper since 6 weeks old, always went to bed in her cot and slept all night but now she can climb out her cot, tried her in her bed and its as if shes scared. Tried the not speaking to her and putting her back to bed constantly and tried the lying beside her and nothing seems to be working, shes getting into such a state and just kicks off the covers and jumps straight out while screaming the place down. Its so hard to watch and just wondered if anyone had any tips?

Just been through this with my son for the past 3 weeks! Literally could have written this myself. Got to the point where we had to let him cry it out as nothing was working. If we sat with him or reassured him we were there he was fine and went to sleep, then if he woke up and we weren’t there it started all over again so it would just go on all night. He’s got a Stairgate and he can’t harm himself in his room so we let him cry it. First for 5 mins then go in and put him back in bed then increase by 2 mins at a time. After 10 mins he worked out we weren’t going to keep coming to him Every time he kicked off. It got to the point where he wasn’t even crying he was just having a tantrum and seeing how far he could push us. I know alot of people don’t agree with controlled crying but when he’s slept 12 hours a night for 2 years then suddenly turns like that after 3 weeks enough was enough! Now he doesn’t even get out of his bed and sleeps right through. Just persevere! Good luck xx
With my kids we used the bedding off the cot, put it in the exact same spot and kept it all the same apart from the frame itself. We also left the cot up with our eldest in the corner of his room so he could see that it was still there and we weren’t just taking it away
My 2 year olds been In a single bed for just over a week now first night he got out of bed twice 2nd night nothing 3rd night bothing now for the last few days hes been getting out bed lots before going to sleep keep at it don’t give up
