Can I have a PP please. My daughter is 24 weeks old and since birth has had her second toe sticking up on both feet. It overlaps her other toes, I avoid putting shoes on her as the last pair rubbed the toe. I’m concerned this will affect her a lot more as she gets older. I have spoke to her gp about it a couple of times and they’ve said it will straighten out when she walks but I can’t see that happening. It doesn’t seem to bother her at all but I know when she gets older if it doesn’t resolve she might have problems wearing shoes and walking etc. Should I go back to gp or take their advice and wait?

  • My little fella is 5 now and was like that from a baby . Like you I went gp. Eventually referred to hospital. They recommended taking for a while and see would it straighten out when walking . In the end when he was 3 he had to have surgery to snip the tendons in both feet. They were too tight which was causing 1 on both feet to rise and other to go under. Since surgery they are nearly perfect .

  • My sons middle toes are like this on both feet! He is now 2 and under podiatrist who has advised us to strap them up using tape to ensure the toes arent able to carry on overlapping! He has been walking over a year now and his did not get any better when he started walking or wearing shoes! We were also told they would be better when he walked! Keep an eye on her as she gets older and if its not any better take her to see gp! Thats what we did when he was around 18 months old and he was referred to podiatrist!

  • My youngest was born with funny toes .My daughters toe was the other way it was like behind her other toes , it has straightened out to an extent although it’s not flush with her other toes . Another one of her toes is bent and that toe bends over the front of the toe beside it . It has straightened out again it’s not completely straight but she has no problems with shoes or walking or anything .

  • My daughter has this on both her second toes. She had it when she was born and it hasn’t caused her any issues. She is 2 and has been walking since 10months. Gp an HV said it will straighten out when she gets older x

  • My toe is like this and so is my son’s so it must be a genetic thing, it’s never caused us any issues so I wouldent worry. To be honest that should put some pins in to straighten it out it won’t just do it by itself . X

  • My little boy has this problem it hasn’t affected his walking but he does pull at it. The doctor referred him to a bone specialist but they wouldn’t do nothing about it. Hopefully this is not the case for you

  • This is my little boy, we got referred to the hospital to be told he has
    ‘curly toe syndrome ‘
his toes should straighten out by the time he’s 5 if not they will break them and pop the back on place , but because children feet grow so much in the first 5 years they said they won’t do anything till then! He’s now 2 and they are still like the picture

  • As she puts weight on the foot it should spread and the toe will pop into place. If your worried talk to your health visitors and gp.

  • My littlen had this when she was born she also had clubbed feet, I put shoes on her all the time. And encouraged her to walk in sterdy shoes not soft sole ones. My littlens nearly two and her feet and toes are completely back to normall. I would encourage to wear shoes as it gave her support and in a way trained the toe into the correct position. Xx
