Can I have a ppp please?

*school uniform*
What do separated parents do about the cost of uniform? Do you take the cost of it out of your maintenance of the father or do you share the cost between the both of you?
My child is starting school this year so needs literally everything in terms of uniform/bags/shoes etc which is going to cost a fortune, even from asda which I am intending to buy it from. I’m unsure whether to ask the father if he would like to contribute towards this or not, I don’t want to seem as though I am money grabbing off him, but times are hard and I could use a little help towards this huge cost! Although obviously if it is wrong to ask for a contribution from him alongside the maintenance payments then I will find the money one way or another even if it means scrimping by! The maintenance he pays does not stretch very far and it wouldn’t even cover the price of 2 school cardigans, although I am not moaning about that as I am happy I get some form of contribution from him for her upbringing!
