Can I have a private post & Advice please.
For the past 6 years I’ve been a single parent of three children.
My oldest is now 21 and independent living away.
My middle one is 10 and a survivor of a tramatic brain injury resulting in severe disabilities, plus I have a 7 year old.
Because of my middle childs disabilities I’ve been a full time carer for my child since the injuries at the time I had to give up full time work to care for my child . The bio father isn’t in the picture as it was a domestic violence situation.
I claim high rate dla for my disabled child, carer’s allowance for myself , child tax credits for both younger children plus disability element, & Child benefit for both younger children.
I live in a housing association house and have full housing benefit and council tax benefit.
A year ago I started dating a really nice and supportive man who I’ve recently introduced to my children after takeing time to get to know him.
My boyfriend doesn’t live with us and works full time, his take home is around 20 thousand a year.
On top of all this I’ve recently found out I’m pregnant with his baby very early on 3 weeks.
He’s over the moon and wants us to get married and be the breadwinner.
My question is what as a married couple in the way of extra help would we be entitled to?
I’m scared this is all moving to fast and feel slightly trapped.
I’ve done everything on my own for so long and was done with having anymore children.
This pregnancy has come as a complete shock to me especially as we where being so careful.
I do love this man and this would be his first child.
I guess I’m worried about being dependent on someone else.
Especially as I don’t want my other children to loose out.
I use every penny on them.
If the pregnancy hadn’t happened I wouldn’t be even considering marriage , he’s never even spent a night at my house.
Please no bashing I’m panicking and don’t know what to do for the best.
