Can I have a private post on behalf of a friend.
My friend is absolutely desperate for help.
This may be upsetting
Her son is 7 years old and this week he asked his teacher for a carrier bag, when the teacher asked him what for he replied so that he could put it over his head to kill himself.
My friend has previously caught her son with a dressing gown tie wrapped around his neck and tied to the top of his bed she managed to catch him just in time.
She’s absolutely terrified of what he may do, she’s taken him to the doctors numerous times but the doctors have said there is nothing they can do it has to be referred through the school.
The school are well aware of what has been happening and had a psychologist meet with my friend and her son and they said he was watching to much violence on his iPad and Xbox so to limit his screen time which my friend has done and also has put the child lock on so he can only watch children’s programmes. The psychiatrist thinks he’s depressed but has not done any referral or offered any help other than to say limit screen time.
The carrier bag incident stemmed from when my friend bought the son a new mattress and the son was heart broken as he liked his old mattress as it had the lumps in the right places and his new mattress doesnt.
He also likes everything to be done a certain way, like when the school implemented a new class he refused to go wanted his old class ..now I believe there may be an aspect of autism here but my friend has mentioned this to school / doctor / psychiatrist and it has gotten her nowhere. It’s gotten to the point my friend is terrified to sleep at night as she’s scared of what her son may do.
There’s no issues at home their a happy family so she feels likes she’s failing and doesn’t know why and nobody will help them.
Has anyone been In a similar situation or know of what she can do to get the help for her son?
