Can I have a private post please?

A friend of mine is really struggling with money, she’s a single mum and due to a lot of reasons she can’t work; she used to work full time and has always paid into the system until her circumstances changed.

Her childs school get a Pupil Premium Grant of £1,350 for each low income family child (my fiends child is one) be used for the needs of that child.

Last year my friend applied for uniform rebate (nothing else) for £75 out of the £1,350 granted to the school and she got the £75 back.

This year she’s had £35 back and been told she won’t get anymore and won’t get anything for uniform going forward. She’s been told she has to use second hand uniform from the school lost property box if she can’t afford to fund it herself. She’s so upset by this that her child is being made to be treated differently by the school because my friend has no money. My friend feels the money isn’t being used for her child. The money should be for things like equipment and school trips yet she’s just been told her child’s trip away next summer term won’t be funded. This means her child can’t go.

Where does my friend stand please? Her child’s dad contributes just £20 a month and he won’t pay anymore. She literally has no one to help her and she’s at the end of her teather. What can she do to challenge the school?
