Can I have a private post please 😊.

Hi guys just after some advice! Right at the moment me, my partner and our children live in a housing accommodation property, we both work so pay full rent! But we need a bigger property so I’ve been looking at private renting, I’m ok with doing this I’m just horrified we’d move out and they’d sell up!! What happens if that happens?! Thanks in advance!! X

  • I wouldn’t ever leave council to go private. If your landlord was to sell you can either see if the buyer is looking to rent the property and see if they will give you a new tenancy or you have to find somewhere else to live. You’d be better off putting in for a transfer or looking to swap. There’s loads of mutual exchange pages on Facebook

  • Don’t quote me on this but if you go into private and you get evicted due to rent arrears they will not want to house you as you made yourself homeless in their eyes, but would think that if it was a case of landlord selling up you will be rehoused as won’t be your fault. There is a group on here called tenancy matters they will be more helpful

  • We are in the same position but I would never give up my HA for private rent. We’ve just juggled rooms to make way for new baby 😊 our girls are 15,11 & 10 and we are expecting a boy! Could do with a 4 bed really but once you go to private rent it would be very hard to get back on “council” or even save for a morgage x

  • I was I same situation Hun, my landlord gave me a section 21 cos he was gona sell up, I went bk to my local council and cos I had lived in the area for so many years and had family connections they sed they had the duty to rehouse us, within 28days, I didn’t get a property in that time so they put us in temp accommodation for a few weeks, then we got offered a brand new house. I’m not sure if all councils work the same x

  • Mutual exchange?
    Is it really to small?
I personally wouldn’t leave and go private.

  • I would never leave to go private. Try a exchange. Or just move to buy x
