Can I have a private post please?
My step kids moved in with myself and my partner almost 3 months ago. Their mother has not and will not give us any money for them or any of their belongings ect. We’ve had to get everything for them from scratch which is fine but it’s not been easy as we have our own young children too. I’ve recently found out she’s claiming benefits for the children that are living with us! She told us she didn’t receive any money for them which is completely false. I don’t know what to do? My partner works and is self employed and is on a low income so we do get some help with working tax credits ect. we’re struggling money wise having two teenagers with us full time but we’re managing (just!) as would any parents do.. but I’m just wondering if I should call tax credits and make them aware that the children are not in her care anymore and will not be? Any help would be appreciated!! No negative comments please!! Money is extremely tight at the moment and I know we should be entitled to the children’s money to help us to get them the things that they need instead of her having it for herself. Thank you x

My Son went from living with me to his Dad. He just called tax credits himself and child benefit and they changed the payments to him
Yep. It’s money for them so you should get it not her x
