Could I have a ppp
Whooping cough!
Went to a&e for my 6 week old who has a nasty cough.
All obs were fine, checked over and was told a viral wheeze and was given a 48 hour open access.
Her cough is no better but she’s feeding, temp is 36.4, wet nappies, smiling and alert. She has a coughing fit every hour or so then fine but this cough is awful, she gasps, holds her breath and it’s very loud and seems to be painful. Obviously worse at night. Since 3 weeks old I kept thinking she has the start of a cold but it never come to anything until Thursday when this cough started. Health visitor said it was probably the pollen being so high.
Looked on the NHS website and all symptoms seem to be whooping cough. I had the whooping cough jab when pregnant. Rung the assessment unit and they said I can bring her in but because she’s feeding and no high temperature and she’s being her normal self then she will properly be sent home again as nothing they can do if all obs are fine again. She said to ring the doctors in the morning if I dont take her in which I was planning to do anyway. I don’t know what to do, she seems absolutely fine until she has these coughing fits that last a couple of mins at the most.
Anyone had a baby so young with whooping cough?
Please no bashing.
