Could I have a private message please!

I’m just wondering if anyone has ever had trouble with their kids grand parents.
And what roll do grandparents play in kids lives. My parents are dead, and I had really great grandparents. But my inlaws don’t seem to think that they should be involved as much as I think they should. Cause apparently their parents didn’t involve themselves much in my partner until he was old enough to walk and talk properly. Which was 30 odd years ago! My kids are one and two.
The grandparents do live a 3 hour drive away. But in the same country. But since my one year old was born, they have spent more time out of the country living their own lives, as they put it! And don’t Skype my partner to see the kids either. ( she can’t Skype me as we fell out, over her bitching and other stuff about me, and she didn’t like to be to,d you can’t do that, she’s a very over sensitive person, like unbelievably sensitive for a 60 year old )
We wanted them to mind the kids for a week in August and November and have been told that unless my youngest sleeps through the night she won’t take them in August, and as for November they are going to cypress again! Even thought they just came back in June after spending 8 months out there!
I’m actually so mad that they are not more willing to be involved, they have no other family no auntys no uncles! Only one son. And now the two grandkids. But they hardly see them. The grandad wouldn’t even come to the youngest christening cause apparently he couldn’t afford the 150€ it would cost to get to the uk. Oh but was it…. your spending 8 months in cypress!! I’m so mad at them! I often wonder am I expecting too much off them? Or is this an English thing? But must of my friends who are English have great grandparents for their kids. I just feel stuck! With shitty ones! Many thanks guys! Xoxo
