My childrens Dad and I split up and he has’nt seen then since, 8 years. His choice.

My partner and I are getting married next year and he wants to adopt them and them take his surname. No idea where my ex husband is to contact him so where do i start? A solicitor? Will it cost much? Thank You in advance! X
