Could I have a private post please..

So I’m a new mum and my babies dad wasn’t around for the first part of my babies life due to a relationship breakdown and things being poorly handled by the both of us but that’s all sorted now & the problem is my mother!! The babies dad sees the her now and he’s amazing, we have a great relationship now (friends) and he’s such a good dad but my mum has massively kicked off about this because she hates him. Now surely the babies needs come before anyone’s and she needs her dad right? But my mum is basically making me choose between her or him and it’s completely breaking me, of course I don’t want to lose my mum but I’ve got to put my babies feelings and needs before anything else. My mum doesn’t have a great relationship with my baby, never bothers with her sees her rarely even though she lives within walking distance to me. I don’t really know what I’m after here I’m just so upset it’s come to this. I guess I just want to know what would other mummy’s do in my situation 😞

  • Sounds to me you know your choice, as like you said your little ones daddy is great with her & she needs her dad & your mum don’t bother.. it’s not about choosing between him or you mum it’s about choosing your little girl and putting her needs first, as a Mother, your own mum should know this! You baby don’t deserve to not know her father cause your mum threw a hissy!

  • So if your mum doesn’t have a good relationship with your child and never rarely sees her why should she have a say!? Your child deserves to see her dad at the end of the day it’s her dad and if he hasn’t done anything to harm the child I would not be listening to your mum!

  • Carry on doing what you are doing. It’s the right thing if he’s good for her. Every one needs their mum and dad if possible!
