Could I have another ppp?
After some advice regarding pain relief whilst in labour.
I’m allergic to a lot of medication and suffering severely with SPD. Was taking codeine but the hospital consultant told me to stop taking it. Was offered morphine for a week but refused it as would have to come off it before it got in my system.
This is my 2nd pregnancy and right now I’m struggling to decide what pain relief to have. I only had gas and air with my 1st.
Do I stick to just that or are there other options people would recommend?
I’m 100% against an epidural but was thinking about maybe pethidine if needed. Just worried incase I have a reaction to anything and it harms my baby.
Any advice would be welcome. Anyone’s experiences. What they found worked. Anyone who’s been in a similar situation and what they did.
Seeing the midwife in a few days so will ask them for recommendations but think they’ll say just gas and air.

When i was induced i ended up with diamorphine because i had constant contractions and my body didn’t get a break after coming of a drip. My daughter was quite sleepy because it passed onto her. If you really wont manage with just gas n air id say go for it. There are side effects to it – passing to baby which makes them quite sleepy but it does help x
I had gas n air then halfway through got a shot of diamorphine so I could sleep a little. Then back to gas n air and by the time the diamorphine warn off I was too far dilated to be able to have any more. Happened exactly the same both times x
