Could you do me a pp please.
So, when I was 8 I hit my head on a school table and broke my front tooth. The dentist did a cap on it and said that as I was so young it would be a temporary one as my teeth were still growing and changing colour.
Anyway…15 years on and the cap is still on! Other people don’t notice it massively but to me I notice it ALL the time as it’s on my front tooth. It’s a completely different colour to my teeth, and has chipped from it being too small in the middle so has a “yellow” part showing through which looks awful.
Sorry for the awful photo it was with flash…but you can see actually how awful it looks!

Anyway I have a dentist appt soon, do you think t would come under NHS to replace it? Or would they likely charge as a private and class it as cosmetic to replace? Thanks

  • Thankyou. Was at a loose end where to post! But seen a few dental posts on the group with good advice from people who work in dentistry before! I know each place if different but just wanted to know what people thought. I’m so so conscious now about smiling and it’s so getting me down. I just hope it would come under NHS treatment given that it was meant to be a temporary one in the first place and the colour difference, and not cosmetic because it’s like £900plus for a cap privately which there’s no way I can afford. May seem so small but it’s literally making me anxious to smile every day because of how awful it looks 👎🏼 x

  • If it isn’t causing you any actual physical pain I think it would be classed as cosmetic, it looks like a composite filling/veneer would fix this and isn’t too costly and has great results… google it 😊
