Hello, can I have a ppp!

I’m a mother of a four month year old baby, I was in the middle of doing an adult nursing degree and fell pregnant so I interrupted ( this means left uni and they held my space open so I can effectively pick up where I left off when I return) I’m due to return back in a couple weeks, my baby will be in nursery 8.30-4.30, I know some people will judge me but I’m trying to build a stable future for my family, I spoke to my partner about this and mentioned about when I graduate, he feels as though I shouldn’t go into a job straight away and make up for lost time with my child ( she will be around 2 by this point) I can’t help like everyone thinks I’m pushing my child to the side, but it’s really for stability! Growing up we struggled and I don’t want the same for my child, truth is I don’t know if I will take a year out once I graduate.. does this make me a bad Mum?

  • You won’t be pushing your baby aside and you’ll have lots of time after daycare to spend with her. You’re making moves to ensure your baby has a financially stable future which is great because you care. Ignore anyone that is trying to discourage you from reaching your goals in life xx

  • It will be so hard but worth it . I put my degree on hold after falling pregnant and they deferred my year . I was due to go back when the baby was 6 months old and I turned my place down as I just was not ready to leave her . Looking back I regret it so much . I worked my ass off to get into the course and it is a very hard course to get accepted in .

Since I turned it down they’ve now changed the entry requirements so I’d now have to resist a maths gcse and get a B before I can even apply so it’s not something I’m going to do .

I know someone who is doing a nursing degree with a 16 month old and her plan is to only work part time 15/20 hours when she’s qualified until the baby is older x

  • I’m a children’s nurse and started uni when my eldest was 6 months old. Best thing I ever did. I’ve now been qualified 5 years and love what I do. Uni is extremely hard with a baby but it will be worth it in the end to have a job you like and able to provide for your little one

  • My kids went into full time child care from 4 and 6 months. I feel that due to spending time with other adults and children they are far more confident and independent as 16 and 11 year olds now.

  • think of the bigger picture. she won’t remember the times you weren’t there as a baby. but she will see the future you’ve provided for her. plus the work ethic you’ve shown her. you go for it mamma! xx

  • Sometimes, staying home is a luxury moms can’t afford. You have to do what you have to do to take care of your family. That is what a good mom does.
