Hello just asking if anyone has been thu this and has any advice please ….my 16 year old son has just been accepted to collage ,he has autism and goes to a special need school and the collage is on the same site as his school… his school/collage is over 30 miles away ……atm he gets free transport to and from school ,he has for years now. We was told the law changed and kids have to stay in education till 18 years old or basically get a job but my son can’t really get a job (not yet anyway). Anyway I’m really proud that he got into the collage…..anyway got a letter from my local council saying when he starts collage in September I would have to start paying for his travel…..no one ever mentioned this before ,it is what it is but no one ever told me ,the school should of !!! I am on benefits and I will get 25% off but the bill is still £400 !!! I just can’t believe it really .i rang them up and they said I have to pay,everyone has .they said I could contact the school and they could help with the cost but I don’t think they could because they are a small school ,I will ring them in the morning and ask any way….and they also said I could pay in instalments (£130 every term)
Any advise would help
